Michelle Suzanne Harris a 55 year old female from New York, NY was arrested after she attempted to withdraw funds from an account that was not hers at a Wells Fargo Bank in Hayden. Bank employees advised that Harris came into the bank and attempted to withdraw $5,000.00 in funds from a bank account. The employees believed something was not right with the transaction and contacted the Sheriff’s Office. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted the female, who provided a driver’s license. After an inspection of the driver’s license, it was determined to be a fake. Harris was arrested for various felony charges including; Identity Theft, Burglary, Grand Theft and possession of a controlled substance (prescription medications).
At the time of her arrest, it was unknown who the real identity of the female was. Using a finger print scanner, deputies were able to identify the female as Harris. Harris has no criminal history in Kootenai County, but has a criminal history in some Eastern States.
Investigation revealed that Harris attempted to withdraw funds twice from a Wells Fargo bank in Coeur d’Alene and approximately four times from a Wells Fargo in the Spokane area. It was determined that she was able to withdraw over $15,000 in funds from the Wells Fargo banks since the 21st of October. It is unknown if any other banks or identities have been used but indications are that this was not the only banks targeted.
It is also believed that Harris was working with a male, in his thirties, with brown medium length hair, in a black passenger car from New York.
