Emergency Personnel Respond to Canfield Mountain for Dirt Bike Crash

The following information is preliminary and subject to change as the incident is currently under investigation.  Events in this press release may change as the investigation progresses.

Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho – On May 10, 2023 at about 2:00 PM, Kootenai County Sheriff Office patrol and back country deputies, along with the Coeur d’ Alene and Kootenai County Fire Departments, responded to Nettleton Gulch Trail Head for a dirt bike crash with injuries.

Due to the crash being 1.5 miles from the trail head (trail 8), units utilized KCSO dirt bikes and walked in on foot to bring necessary medical gear. The adult rider, Thomas Trefney of Columbia Falls Montana, sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported by ground ambulance shortly after 4:00 PM. 

All involved agencies worked very well together for this rescue to provide the best outcome possible.
