[ARCHIVED] Train Safety and Preparedness in Kootenai County

Sheriff LOGO

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway Company (BNSF), Northern Lakes Fire District, Kootenai County Fire & Rescue, and Timberlake Fire Protection District to host a town hall meeting regarding railway safety and preparedness.

Kootenai County Sheriff Robert Norris is organizing this event to bring education and awareness to our local community who is concerned about railway incidents in our country.

Sheriff Bob Norris stated that he understands there is a degree of concern in our community regarding train and railway safety given recent train derailment events. If you have concerns about the types of freight being transported through our county, the safety measures that are in place, or the state of our preparedness, this would be a great town hall for you to attend. I look forward to seeing you.
