Hayden, Idaho: On September 24th, 2022 at approximately 10:14 pm, Central Dispatch received a report of a residential structure fire, located in the 2100 block of W. James Crowe Dr. in the City of Hayden, ID.
Kootenai County Sheriff Deputies were first on scene approximately 6 minutes after receiving the report of the structure fire. Fire and medical personnel from multiple agencies arrived shortly after. Fire personnel quickly entered the residence after information gathered from a witness made first responders believe there was still a resident inside.
Fire personnel entered the residence and located a male victim inside the residence. The male was brought outside and transported to Kootenai Health via ambulance.
The male victim was identified as Gary T. Hetrick, 78. Mr. Hetrick was air lifted to Harborview Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
The origin of the fire is still under investigation.
