Rathdrum, Idaho: On June 1st 2021 at around 1:15 pm, Deputies responded to the Lakeland Immediate Care in the City of Rathdrum for a male who was transported by private vehicle with a gunshot wound. Deputies arrived on scene and contacted a male who had a single gunshot wound to his lower abdomen. Deputies quickly learned the incident occurred in the area of 16298 Trails End Road.
After talking to the victim of the gunshot wound and witnesses at the scene, it is believed the male accidently shot himself while standing outside the residence talking to another male.
The male, who was identified as Darren L. Lance, a 41 year old male from the Rathdrum Area was transported to Kootenai Health with non-life threatening injuries.
Detectives were called to the scene to assist with the investigation but again, it appears the incident was a neglect discharge and no other people or bystanders were injured.
