[ARCHIVED] KCSO Locates Large Amount of Heroin During Arrest

Hauser, ID: On December 8th, 2020, at approximately 3:00 PM, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kootenai County Joint Agency SWAT team executed a search warrant in the 9000 block of N. Hauser Lake Rd. near Hauser, ID.  Working with the Spokane Police Department Patrol Anti-Crime Team (PACT), KCSO detectives obtained a search warrant for the residence for suspected illegal drug violations.  Due to the criminal history of the suspects and information discovered during the investigation, the SWAT team was utilized to execute the search warrant.  Spokane Police SWAT also assisted during the search warrant execution.

The search warrant was executed without incident and all occupants complied with SWAT’s directives.   Detectives located approximately 2.75 pounds of heroin with an approximate street value of $195,000.   Detectives also located methamphetamine, prescription pills, a cash counting machine, 3 firearms, paraphernalia, and items associated with the distribution of illegal drugs throughout the house.  Detectives arrested Paula L. Riojas, 38 for trafficking heroin and unlawful possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
