[ARCHIVED] KCSO and SWAT Team Arrest Male for Domestic Battery

Spirit Lake, ID – On November 1st at around 11:20 p.m., the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute call on Coeur d’Alene Ave., in Spirit Lake East near the city of Spirit Lake.   As Deputies arrived on scene they contacted the victim who stated she was in a domestic with her boyfriend Dustin R. Hart a 35 year old male from Spirit Lake area.  

The victim stated Dustin hit and strangled her then grabbed a weapon and went into the shop on the property.  Deputies attempted to contact Dustin by phone and via PA system however there was no response.  Based on the nature of the call and the fact he was barricaded with weapons, the Multi Agency SWAT Team was activated.  SWAT Team members arrived on scene and continued announcements for Dustin to come out.  At approximately 2:30 a.m. the male exited the shop and surrendered to SWAT members without incident.

Dustin was taken into custody for Felony Attempted Strangulation.  Safe Passage was contacted and was working on making arrangements for the victim and her children.
