Juvenile Female Killed by Falling Tree

Hayden, ID:  On July 15th 2020, at around 4:15 pm, The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and Northern Lake Fire Department responded to a report of a trauma along the shoreline of Hayden Lake near English Point Trail Head.

Units arrived on scene and learned a 9 year old female was fishing from a dock when a 60 foot tree fell striking the female.  Medical and Law Enforcement began treating the females injuries and Life Flight was requested to transport the juvenile to Kootenai Health.  We later learned the juvenile female died as a result of her injuries.

The tree that fell was determined to be rotten.  At this time there is nothing suspicious about the incident.
