[ARCHIVED] KCSO Responds to Shooting

Post Falls, ID- On October 20, 2018, at approximately 6:45 PM, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls about a shooting on Gallatin Way near the city of Post Falls. It was reported that a single adult male had been shot.


The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and medical personnel from Kootenai Fire and Rescue responded to the scene to find one adult male with a single gunshot wound. Despite life saving measures from both agencies the male was pronounced dead at the scene.


The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Detective’s Division was called to the scene and is actively working the investigation.


William C. Carlson was detained at the scene and identified as the shooter. He was later arrested for Involuntary Man Slaughter and transported to the Kootenai County Public Safety Building. The victim was identified as Tyler S. Liles.


At this time, this is still an active investigation and more information will be released once details are obtained by investigators.
