[ARCHIVED] KCSO Arrests Rathdrum Woman for Homicide

Rathdrum, Idaho – On April 14, 2020, shortly after 1:00 pm, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office was requested by the Rathdrum Police Department to handle a possible homicide case for them, which involved the death of a newborn baby.  KCSO Major Crimes Detectives were told that a 22 year old female and a deceased baby had been transported to Kootenai Health by another female. Once detectives arrived on scene, the evidence showed that the deceased baby may have been alive at birth and the birth mother was responsible for the baby’s death.

Following the investigation and evidence collected from the residence and hospital, interviews and the subsequent autopsy, detectives obtained a warrant of arrest for Elizabeth B. Keyes, 22 years old of Rathdrum, ID. She was booked into the Kootenai County Jail on April 16, 2020, for one count of murder in the first degree.

This is an ongoing investigation and further information will not be released at this time.
