Kootenai County, ID: Following the morning briefing of the Kootenai County Emergency Operations Center Unified Command, we are notifying the public that testing for the COVID-19 will only be done if your provider/primary care physician orders the test. These tests are taking at least 3-5 days for results Additionally, if you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop symptoms similar to the flu, such as fever and a persistent cough, call your healthcare provider for medical advice. We are asking individuals not go to the Emergency Room at the hospital.
We ask that if you have questions about what to do and what steps to take regarding the COVID-19, to please go to the Center of Disease Control website at www.cdc.gov or call Panhandle Health at 877-415-5225. For questions regarding services and resources, you can contact our citizen inquiry line at 208-446-2292.
Finally, there has been a lot of supply hoarding by the public and although we applaud those that have taken the necessary steps to be prepared for emergencies prior to this event, the current supply purchasing is putting an unnecessary demand on retail stores and eliminating any supplies your neighbors need for day to day living.
