Captain Stuart Miller began his career with the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office in 1996 as a lateral patrol deputy, following two years of previous service as a patrol officer for a local city police department. He worked his way through the ranks of deputy, to patrol sergeant in 2002, patrol lieutenant in 2009 and operations captain in 2020. During his career, he’s served as a Hayden District Deputy, Field Training Officer, Crowd Control Team member, Administrative Sergeant, Field Training Supervisor and Coordinator, Recreation Safety Section Commander, 911 Director, Detective Lieutenant, Multi-agency SWAT Commander, Operations Bureau Commander and currently as the Jail Bureau Commander.
